While you're browsing the website, we will not use tracking cookies, neither third-party's nor our own, for advertising or purposes unrelated to your navigation experience or access to our Services. Further information about our Cookie Policy can be found on the related page.

We collect some specific information about you to allow you access to our Services. This information includes:

  • Your full name, pseudonym(s) (or nickname(s)), place and date of birth, residence, e-mail address and mobile number
  • Your ID number (ID card, driving licence or passport) and possibly a digital copy of the document itself
  • Your IP address and details on the version of the web browser in use
  • Files you will upload on our Platform when using our Service
  • Information on how you use the site, through cookies and page tagging techniques.

This data can be accessed by authorised personnel at Rights Chain Ltd. to:

  • Grant you access to our Platform
  • Improve the website by monitoring how you use it
  • Gather feedback to improve our services
  • Respond to your feedback or support requests
  • Send e-mail alerts for important events on our Platform
  • Allow you access to our Services.

Some information could be handed to third parties, such as payment service providers, to allow safe and secure transactions. We will not store payment information such as credit card numbers under any circumstances.

We would like to let you know that:

  • Your name, place and date of birth, residence, ID, e-mail and mobile number represent your personal data that is not accessible to third parties at any moment, and is not accessible directly through our website to visitors or other users;
  • If any copy of your document(s) were uploaded, they will be stored on our platform for 30 days at most, only for Service activation, and will not be shared with third parties at any time;
  • The Country of Residence with your pseudonym(s) or nickname(s) will be shown under your Artwork pages and will be integrated within the Birth Certificate of your Artwork as Author name and country of origin of the registered Artwork;
  • Your e-mail address is used as your user login and we may use it to send you important messages such as password reset requests, Service notifications, messages from visitors of your Artworks;
  • Your e-mail address, full name and pseudonym(s) may be visible to a third party as part of your digital signature, should you file a Complaint Request of a Copyright Infringement Notification through our Platform;
  • Your mobile number is only stored for urgent notifications about your privacy, Copyright or other security means (such as two-factor authentication, for instance).

Where your data is

Your information may be stored in different locations, depending on your Country of Residence. You can check our Contacts page to know what Data Centre facility belongs to your area.

As of the current revision of our Privacy Policy, the following Data Centre facilities are being in use:

  • OVH London UK1 (GB)
  • OVH Gravelines (FR)
  • OVH Frankfurt (DE)
  • OVH Strasbourg (FR)

Some of our suppliers may be based outside the European Economic Area (EEA). We perform strict and continuous controls over how and why your data can be accessed.

When submitting your personal data, you agree to the following:

  • Grant of access to and view of your personal information to Rights Chain Ltd. and its staff for Service supply;
  • Supply of only the strictly required information to third parties, such as our payment gateway processor, to allow Service delivery;
  • Storage of a small set of information within a Blockchain database that cannot be altered or edited by any means by Rights Chain Ltd. (see Blockchain database section below).

The Blockchain registry

The Artwork Registration data is stored within a Blockchain registry. Such technology does not allow Rights Chain Ltd. or any third party to alter or delete the information stored within it, once it has been saved. The data stored within the Blockchain registry includes:

  • Your pseudonym or nickname, based on the information you provided
  • The country of origin of the Registration (2-letter code in ISO 1366 format)
  • A hash of your Artwork (sha256)
  • Metadata from the registered Artwork, based on the artwork type

No further personal information is stored within the Blockchain database.

Keeping your data secure

Sending information over the Internet is generally not fully secure, and we can’t guarantee the security of your data while it’s in transit.

We set up procedures and security features to keep your data secure once we receive it.

All communication between your computer or device (“Endpoint”) and our systems are encrypted and digitally signed using the latest and most reliable encryption technologies.

Should you have concerns about confidentiality or security of your communication with our Platform, please contact us for further information or support.

Disclosing your information

We may pass on your personal information, should we have a legal obligation to do so, or should we need to enforce or apply our terms of use and other agreements. This includes exchanging information with other government departments for legal reasons.

We may supply a minimal set of information to third parties, such as the payment gateway service, to allow the correct delivery of our Services. We won’t otherwise share your information with any other organisation for marketing, market research or commercial purposes, and we won’t hand your details to other websites.

Your rights

You can find out what information we hold about you, and ask us not to use any of the information we collect.

If you signed up for email alerts, you can unsubscribe or change your settings at any time.

This privacy policy only applies to the Rights Chain Ltd. websites, and doesn’t cover other services or transactions we link to. These services have their own terms and conditions and privacy policies.
